If you’re from Bakersfield, you know Hodel’s. If you’ve come to Bakersfield for a business meeting, nine times out of ten you went to Hodel’s. It’s one of those places that has been around here forever and everyone is comforted when they hear the name. We can’t get over them because of their catering! Now you’re probably thinking to yourself, “What? Hodel’s caters?!” Well darn right they do and it it SO. GOOD. Don Hodel has become a good friend and has gone above and beyond to create an incredible wedding buffet menu (they’ll even cut your cake!) Their catering menu is completely different from their restaurant menu, and their professional style with yummy comfort food is the perfect combo for us! They’ll decorate their table to match your event, as well as have staff to man the table at all times. We heart Hodel’s. A lot.
We recently had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Misty Garcia over at Imperial Sweets! She was so sweet and already loved us, so it was a dream team come true! Her cookies are GORGEOUS and yummy and her style is sleek + professional, with a touch of whimsy 🙂 She gets booked fast so make sure you get in touch with her, so you can add these incredible cookies to your event!
If you’ll allow us to brag for just a moment, we have one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the city! Outdoor weddings are often coveted, but we acknowledge they can be stressful for those doing the planning. Check out our tips for ensuring you pull of the perfect outdoor celebration.
Have a Rain Plan: We know it doesn’t rain much in Bakersfield, but if your entire party can’t fit inside the house, you’ll need to have some sturdy umbrellas on hand, some bride-worthy rainboots (and some for your wedding party, too!), and even a fun cover-up.
Prepare for the Heat: You’re more likely to need a sun-plan than a rain-plan here in Bakersfield. Prepare with your photographer for the best spots on site to catch quality, squint-free photos! Remember SPF, and consider umbrellas to shield your guests from the sun during the ceremony. Sunglasses are a fun give-away, and printing your program on individual fans is even better. Remember we have cold drinks on-hand!
Help Your Guests Prepare: Your wedding website should include information about your Big Day, your wedding party, your registries and your story as a couple. Equally important, though, is the inclusion of information about how guests should expect to dress – especially if you have guests travelling in from out of town who are less familiar with the weather patterns. As mentioned above, have some SPF on hand, a few extra umbrellas, and lots of water!
Keep the Bugs Away: Aside from having bug spray, a fly-covered wedding cake doesn’t sound especially appetizing. Arrange to have some citronella candles around! They’ll keep the bugs away and add to the romantic ambiance. Win-win!
Talk with Us About Your Needs: We are here to help make your day as seamless as possible. If you have a wedding guest with special accessibility or health needs that may be affected by weather or the outdoor terrain, let us know! Keep us apprised of your concerns and we’ll do our best to help.
